Free support for new families

How to parent better as a team – and you don’t have to be a ‘young’ parent to join the program — all new parents, no matter your age, are welcome.

What is Family Foundations?

Family Foundations is a free 10-session program that helps parents (couples and those parenting with someone else like a partner, a grandparent or friend) work together to manage the ups and downs of raising children. 

Two qualified and experienced coaches will work with you and your co-parent in your home or online to: 

  • Strengthen your relationship 
  • Develop skills to manage challenges and conflict 
  • Communicate better together 
  • Manage stress and provide practical ways to cope 

Who can use this service?

Anyone who: 

  • is having a baby 
  • has a child aged 12 months or under 
  • is part of a parenting team

Location?

Greater Shepparton area. Sessions are available online or in your home – we fit around you!

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are expecting your baby, we recommend doing five sessions before baby arrives and five after baby comes home. Otherwise, if you have had your baby, you can start all ten sessions now. 

A coach is an experienced and trained staff member from The Bridge Youth Service who will work with you and your co-parent to manage the ups and downs of having children. 

That’s not a problem. We are flexible with our visiting times and will try to fit in with your family circumstances. 

Yes. You don’t need to leave your home to participate in the program – we come to you, or we can deliver sessions online. 

We can talk through your needs and work out if Family Foundations is right for you. 

This program is funded by Communities for Children and delivered by The Bridge Youth Service in partnership with Deakin University.
