The Bridge Youth Service grateful for college’s kind donation

Notre Dame College Shepparton has donated the proceeds of its Year 12 Charity Ball to The Bridge Youth Service.

The gala event, held in September, raised $1990.

“We chose The Bridge because we thought it would be the most relatable option for the attendees, it was a Year 12 ball,” Notre Dame Year 12 captain Harry Brown said.

“The students are more likely to care about the youth in their community.”

Notre Dame Year 12 captain Bella Woods added: “And also that it was local, we wanted it to be local, so that it’s more meaningful to us.”

The Bridge Youth Service CEO Melinda Lawley expressed gratitude for the students’ contribution and commended their understanding of the urgent issues confronting young people.

“It’s inspiring to see young hearts and minds recognising the importance of giving back,” Ms Lawley said.

“Thanks to the generous support from Notre Dame College, this donation will empower our youth by providing safe housing, educational support, and essential resources for young parents.

“Additionally, it will enable early intervention programs that address mental health and substance misuse, helping young people navigate their challenges and thrive.”

The Year 12 ball was a huge success, with 200 students attending. The students enjoyed karaoke, a DJ, AFL footy finals on and they all dressed as something beginning with the letter of their first names.
