Youth Ambassador

he Youth Ambassador Program celebrates the voice, passion and lived experience of young people who’ve been supported by The Bridge Youth Service.  Youth Ambassadors are young changemakers — eager to learn, ready for a challenge, and committed to making a difference in their community. In this active role, they share ideas to help us better connect with young people, represent youth voices while considering the bigger picture, promote the work of The Bridge Youth Service, attend and support events, contribute to workshops and consultations, and help shape our services by sharing their insights. They also act as positive role models for their peers, offering encouragement and support to others in our programs.

Molly McLeod

Youth Ambassador for 2025-2026

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Molly. I am a baker. I have a dog named Hope and I work at the aerodrome in Tocumwal. I make coffees and serve, and I also sometimes make food.

What are some things you’re passionate about?
I am pretty passionate about mental health and speaking up when you’re being treated poorly. Helping other people feel less alone through sharing my story.

Molly is also passionate about her baking business, Daisy Chain Baking Co, and painting. In Year 9, while struggling to attend school, Molly painted on hundreds of canvases in an effort to motivate herself.

How did you first get involved with The Bridge Youth Service?
My school – St Mary’s of the Angels in Nathalia – linked me in with Navigator.

What did your relationship with your worker look like and how did they support you?
Very positive. Sarah made me feel like I wasn’t crazy and what I was feeling was valid and that even though she was there to help me get back to school, it was okay not to because school wasn’t and isn’t everything.

Can you share a moment or a memory from your time with The Bridge Youth Service that really stuck with you?
Probably the session with Sarah after I got my diagnosis for BPD. I was really scared and really confused because I didn’t know what it was. And Sarah really helped me understand it and talked me through it.

How do you think being a part of The Bridge Youth Service has changed or influenced your life?
It’s made me feel that people can help, even though they are there to help you, they genuinely want to. In the past I didn’t really have many people who wanted to help and get me through something. Being part of The Bridge Youth Service and seeing Sarah really made me feel less alone and that even though what I was going through was in my mind, that I didn’t have to handle it alone.

What does it mean to you to be chosen as our Youth Ambassador?
I feel very honoured to be able to be the Youth Ambassador and to be able to help other people because no one should go through it alone and you guys really helped me, so I’d really love to be able to help you guys help other people.

If you could give advice to other young people who are struggling, what would you say?
It’s okay to ask for help.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love ABBA and old movies and TV shows. I love Audrey Hepburn movies. I’ve been watching Mamma Mia since I was three. I’m making an ABBA-themed cake for my birthday next week. I’m so excited.  I have mum’s old ABBA vinyl in my vinyl collection.

Do you have a favourite quote or motto that motivates you?

It’s from a specific episode of Gilmore Girls. And it’s “People can live a hundred years without really living for a minute.”
